The fights take components In The Raid franchise to the savage gore, that Iko Uwais stars in well, and dials them up. I can not remember cringing from picture kills in a picture as much as I have with this one. I really do not believe it's overly excessive, as the movie itself adds and Iko harks back to Jackie Chan in some of his comedic time and some black humor, and never gets overly serious. It will be Headshot if Chan was in a gorefest. The slasher components from their previous attempts, most surely drip through to this, and much more so compared to other. There tend to be more classic kills in this even or than the likes of Macabre Safe.
Where Headshot falters a bit could take the storyline and character development, but I believe even then, I believe the performances are superb across the board and as mentioned before, it works. Iko gives perhaps his finest performance yet, giving me hints of Yen in facial expressions and his tender heart. Yen is no great performer, however he gives attraction unlike any other off, and Iko definitely manages to give the exact same comfort. The difference between Donnie and him however, is when Iko snaps, he's frightening beyond all imagination!
When it comes to the characters, I do believe this movie does a fine job of combining humanity with a little madness. The Chinese villain of the piece, Lee, is perhaps my favourite character, as he's totally bonkers, however he really believes that it's the correct thing, and in what he's doing and is totally valuable for him. Whoa!".
Technically speaking, this film is far and the Mo Brothers have done thus far. The cinematography is impressive, save several handheld hiccups occasionally, however there are a lot of shots that are superb about, and a few nods with their previous works that die hard fans will get. The music, while I did not much care for previously on, better and gets better as the run time really has become one of my favourite dozens of recent memory and carries on. Some creative editing in the actions scenes, combined with a few interesting transitions during the more quiet moments actually then add flare to an already striking movie.
