The attractiveness of a series like Orphan Black comes from all of the staff authors' ability to create complex story lines without allowing any one of those characters fall into the wayside. It appears in its last season, Orphan Black, will maintain their tendencies of progressively interesting and convoluted story lines and astonishing characters brought to life by a single brilliant performer.
Naturally this episode had several moving components between Sarah running around the forest with a poor leg seeking to locate Cosima, to Cosima attempting to determine exactly what's going on in the village, to Alison and Donnie and Helena all hiding out at a National Park, to Felix and Art attempting to find leads to where Siobhan and Kira are Art is coping with his brand new partner. Lots of moving parts that all sort of come together and that is not even everything that occurred in the episode.
When Sarah is at the forest hiding when an individual shaped beast attacks her. Perhaps it is a rebound gone wrong or something more menacing. Either way something frightening is happening in these forests. While that is happening Cosima is at the loony neolutionist village together with Delphine who's amazingly pleased to be there working.
Delphine -- who's departing on a mission for Westmoreland - was able to steal some of the heal which has plagued Cosima because the end of year one. This contributes to an intriguing moment however. Cosima breaks to the practice in which the cure is concealed where Sarah finally meets her up to receive her off the island when Cosima says she still wishes to remain. Later Sarah leaves and Cosima remains she is attempting to giver herself the heal, but Rachel walks in. Now it is difficult to imagine Rachel really helping any one of these clones, but Rachel really helps Cosima. What's Westmorelands endgame here and what exactly does he need with the clones?
While all that's occurring Alison and Donnie and Helena are hiding from the forest. While she is packing Alison gets destroyed by neolutionists while Donnie conceals and conducts leaving Alison on her own. Donnie runs on his car where he's attacked by the men and women who took Alison when Helena who's really, very pregnant during the day, but not without having a stick stabbed during her belly possibly harming one or both of her babies. Additionally it turns out that Art was that the reason that they have been kidnapped due to his new spouse can also be who wishes to around the clones for Westmoreland.
Everything occurring in this episode is due to Westmoreland. We've yet to see him on display but we know he is the guy behind the curtain so to speak and has managed to remain alive for 170 years since we learned from the season four finale. In a series about clones this is not hopeless a guy managed to remain alive for 170, no matter how the series was fairly grounded in fact. Perfect clones are hopeless but Orphan Black does a fantastic job of making it appear possible, hopefully this sci-fi series does not utilize its final season to turn into a sci-fi series that does not match what the vast majority of the series was around: Girls who desired autonomy over their own body and also to be recognized as humans and not land.
